fully functional backpack made out of an upcycled Nike ACG vest.

this backpack is made out of completely repurposed materials.
front black webbing = an old dickies belt
tan straps/handle = from a re-store
plastic buckle / d-rings = old backpack
elastic pull cord = sweatshirt band
thread = re-store

and everything else was on the vest already!

my intent with this project was to challenge myself by looking at common objects differently. what could a vest become? how can I maintain the highest level of functionality? how can I avoid throwing parts of the vest away when putting it back together?

these pictures are of a fully functional fuct-tape bike bag. the bag was created as a class assignment. it is created for an adaptive cycle, as hydration issues are a large concern on these bikes. traditional bike bags do not fit on them. this bag is designed to fit in between the handlebars of a hand-cycle.

features daisy chain closures

a cute logo,

and duct tape lashings.

this t-shirt is a store-exclusive shirt created for rei portland’s 45th anniversary. staff submitted designs and voted on their favorite to become a t-shirt and be distributed among the store staff.

I created this design with the idea that no store works without everybody working together. it features all of the distinct sections within the store, (action sports is represented with the bikes, the cashiers are represented with the registers, the office with the office, clothing, footwear, S&r, etc.) it is superimposed against a background of mountains, water, and trees to represent our shared passion for the outdoors. it is also intended to serve as a reminder of why we do what we do. we work together for the greater good of the outdoors and the people who use it.

finally, it thanks the Portland community for letting us serve it for the last 45 years.
